“Former Antalyaspor Defender’s Dream Tottenham Transfer Thwarted by Injury, Reveals Personal Regret”

Christian Luyindama reveals injuries prevented him from making dream Tottenham move

An ill-timed injury erupted as the only hurdle between Christian Luyindama and a potential Tottenham Hotspur transfer a few years ago.

Christian Luyindama was acclaimed as one of the most talented players in the Turkish Super League. He has been a consistent presence at the heart of the defense at Galatasaray for a prolonged time, although the 30-year-old has been without a club since parting ways with the Istanbul-based side last December.

In a recent interview with Fotospor, Luyindama stated that shortly after switching clubs in January 2019, after a couple of years with Standard Liège, he had the opportunity to make a Premier League transfer.

The now 30-year-old had made a great start to his life in Turkey, which led Premier League duo Tottenham and Aston Villa to approach him with offers. While his impressive performances in a 2018/19 title-winning season meant he could have made the move to England, he picked up an injury on international duty, and with that injury came any hopes of making a move to the English top-tier.

At the time, he was rated at £12 million, which could be seen as a fee that a club like Tottenham could pay in one shot.

“At that time, I had many offers,” he admitted, speaking to Fotospor.

“Including Tottenham and Aston Villa. I had to play that match against Gambia and then go back to Istanbul to finalize the details of my transfer. Unfortunately, I injured my knee. My transfer did not happen. I couldn’t realize my dreams.”

Perhaps he would have been an unsung hero at White Hart Lane if he hadn’t picked up that knee injury, but I guess that’s been left to the imagination now.
