Tottenham tipped to complete ‘incredibly affordable’ £42.8m transfer for exciting La Liga star

Next big thing on Spur’s radar? Tottenham Hotspur targets Spanish winger Nico Williams

Tottenham Hotspur have been subject to links for Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams, and journalist John Wenham believes that signing the 21-year-old is a “no-brainer.”.

Spurs have emerged as one of the contenders to land one of the most exciting wingers in world football, and any deal that could bring the Spaniard to North London will be commendable. The Telegraph reported the North Londoners to be one of the contenders for landing Nico Williams, who has a £42.8 million buyout clause in his contract.

The Spanish international penned a new contract at San Mamés in December 2023; however, his release clause is said to be accessible. Williams’ last contract in the Basque Country was set to expire in the summer before he

Williams’ previous contract in the Basque Country was set to expire at the end of the ongoing season before he signed a new three-year deal. At 21, he is primed to break out in a big way and Tottenham could steal a march on their opponents by moving fast to secure his services.

Signing Nico Williams a “No-Brainer” for Tottenham

Backing the links to N17, owner of the popular and reliable Tottenham podcast Lilywhite Rose has heaped praise on Spurs’ target. Speaking to Tottenham Hotspur News in an exclusive piece, Wenham said:

“His £42.8 million buyout clause is incredibly affordable for a team of Tottenham’s financial standing,” Wenham was quoted as saying.

“Williams is a player with immense talent, huge potential, and somebody who is starting for Spain and will be looking to go to the Euros this summer. In this current market, we’re talking about a £60 million-plus player, and he is available for just over £40 million, so this deal is a no-brainer for me.”

There is no doubt about the potential that Nico Williams possesses. He is fast and can dribble on the front foot, something we have seen Ange Postecoglou do in his short time at Spurs. While having him would certainly come at a hefty transfer price tag, the recent financial success of the club means that paying a £42.8 million buyout clause would not be a problem.
