Tottenham transfer news: Ange Postecoglou is starting his work on the Tottenham squad with some transfers lined up
The Ange Postecoglou era at Tottenham is underway as the Australian coach looks to take the club in a completely new direction. The appointment of the former Celtic boss has been a switch in approach from chairman Daniel Levy, who had appointed Antonio Conte, Nuno Espirito Santo and Jose Mourinho as his last three head coaches.
Postecoglou is tasked with returning Spurs back towards the top, competing for trophies, but in the short term, rekindling that relationship with the supporters. Entertaining football may go a long way towards building bridges once again, building excitement towards the team once again.
The summer transfer window offers the chance for a squad overhaul too, with a number of exits required to thin numbers after missing out on European football while also moving towards a side that can play the new coach’s style. Plenty of steps have been taken towards doing just that.
In terms of incomings, there are two clear-cut options currently discussed as David Raya appears to be the main contender to become the new goalkeeper, The Brentford shot-stopper has just one-year remaining on his contract and while reports have claimed personal terms have been agreed, a fee still has to be settled upon with the Bees. Then there’s the curious case of Dejan Kulusevski, who has been a Tottenham player for the past 18 months in all but name. The loan deal for the forward expires this summer, with Spurs not activating the clause in his contract that would see him make the move permanent.
Instead, the Lilywhites have looked to negotiate a lower fee with Juventus after missing out on European football, with the good news being reports that claim a deal is close to being completed. With the potential for those two to officially come through the door, there’s room for more incomings.
The latest comes at centre-back as Sky Sports claims that Tottenham are eyeing up a move for Fulham defender Tosin Adarabioyo this summer. The 25-year-old is entering the final year of his contract with the London side and a contract extension seems unlikely at this stage.
That situation could see Postecoglou land a bargain move to bolster his ranks as Clement Lenglet returns to Barcelona from his loan and Davinson Sanchez is linked with an exit. It remains to be seen whether Spurs will ramp up an approach for Adarabioyo, but pieces are falling into place for a huge summer window.
