Chelsea made a late attempt to sign Tottenham wonderkid Mikey Moore before Spurs eventually agreed a deal with the youngster.
That is according to the Mirror.
So, what are the details involving Chelsea and Mikey Moore? Let’s take a look…
What’s the story?
Well, Chelsea have been focused on signing the best young talent across Europe since Todd Boehly arrived at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues have already snapped up gems such as Kendry Paez, Cesare Casadei and Carney Chukwuemeka for huge fees.
Now – as detailed by the Mirror – a move was made to pinch Moore from Tottenham. It is said that Chelsea sent the 15-year-old a ‘mega’ contract offer with his terms at Spurs expiring at the end of June, while Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and AC Milan were also monitoring the teenager.
Eventually, Moore – who The Athletic have described as an ‘exceptional talent’ – ended up signing a new contract at Tottenham running until June 2025, after being promised first-team football within two years.
Daniel Levy – Chairman of Spurs – even had to personally get involved in Tottenham’s attempts to keep the England Under-16 international after Chelsea made an offer.
Mikey Moore situation should encourage Chelsea fans
While Tottenham managed to keep Moore away from Chelsea on this occasion, it should encourage supporters to see Boehly and his team be so alert to potential opportunities such as this.Moore has the potential to become one of the best footballers in England, and if Chelsea managed to sign him on a free transfer at this early stage of his career, it would have gone down as a shrewd bit of business.
Unfortunately, it was not to be on this occasion, but nobody can deny that Chelsea are well and truly on their toes when it comes to snapping up the best young talent on the planet.
