According to Get French Football News, Marseille are ‘heavily leaning’ on CAA Sports in the search for their next manager. Pablo Longoria, the club’s President, is represented by the agency, as is Postecoglou.

The report suggests the 57-year-old and former Athletic Bilbao boss Marcelino are the club’s top two targets. Lille’s Paulo Fonseca is also in contention.

Tottenham will be hoping that the pull of the Premier League will play a key role in convincing Postecoglou to switch Scotland for England. This season’s finish outside the European places mean the north Londoners are not able to provide Champions League participation, something Marseille and Celtic can.

Postecoglou isn’t expected to make a decision on his future until this weekend’s Scottish Cup final against Inverness Caledonian Thistle is over. “It doesn’t register,” he said. “I get that people love to speculate on these things but we’ve worked really, really hard to get ourselves into this position.

“For me to let my mind wander about anything else other than getting our team prepared for a big day on Saturday, it’s just not who I am.
