‘FALL OUT’: TOTTENHAM SENT ANTONIO CONTE WARNING AMID PEDRO PORRO TRANSFER

Stephen Warnock is worried about the ‘fall out’ with Antonio Conte if Tottenham Hotspur fails to secure a deadline-day transfer deal for Pedro Porro from Sporting Lisbon.

A couple of days ago, Fabio Paratici was starting to breathe easy because only a few small details were left for Tottenham to get their man.

That’s when they were hit with a sucker punch and Sporting changed the tide of the game, and the suggestions were that the deal was off.

With hours left before the January transfer window slams shut, it seems as though all issues have been resolved and Porro will be a Tottenham player before Tuesday’s cut-off point.

Well, regardless of what does or doesn’t happen, former Premier League left-back Warnock thinks the Porro deal just has to happen, as he told Sky Sports News (30/01/23).

“It’s a very difficult position to play,” said Warnock. “It’s a very specialist position. I don’t think many people can play it, at the level he (Conte) wants to play it at.

“From Conte’s point of view, if it doesn’t happen, then I worry about the fallout.”

If this rumoured £44 million deal is signed, sealed and delivered, then it will be an upgrade on what Tottenham already have.

Emerson Royal started his side’s 1-0 win over Fulham in the Premier League last time out, and performed well.

But Spurs fans are fully aware that a performance that puts them on the edge is only around the corner.

Therefore, this is a deal that’s very much needed even if it means, at this moment in time, the London club have four bonafide right-sided wing-backs on their books.
