Ian Wright has shared what the reaction would be like from Tottenham Hotspur fans if Harry Kane decided to secure a transfer to Chelsea and re-unite with Mauricio Pochettino.
The Arsenal legend thinks Spurs fans would welcome back Harry Kane ‘through gritted teeth’ as he urged Chelsea to push for the 29-year-old’s signing, as he told Premier League Productions (15/05/23 at 2:55 pm).
One thing is for sure, Mauricio Pochettino is heading to Chelsea, so that increases those odds – Harry Redknapp shared his thoughts on this move.
Some may argue that the Argentine wouldn’t do such a thing, but at the end of the day, as a former Spurs boss, he has decided to take the Chelsea job.
Either way, Wright shared what the reaction would be like if Kane decided to secure a summer transfer to Stamford Bridge.
“They would welcome him back, but through gritted teeth,” said Wright. “There is no way, I don’t think, that conversation isn’t there.
“Chelsea needs a proper number nine and Poch needs someone scoring for him because that is what Chelsea miss.
“If I am Poch, I know the legacy stuff, but I am trying for that. I am trying.”
COULD KANE SEE OUT HIS TOTTENHAM CONTRACT?
Whilst there is a lot of talk about the England captain heading for the exit door as soon as the season is out, there is also every chance he sees out his contract.
The power lies in Kane’s hands because, if he doesn’t get the move he wishes, then he can see leave on a free transfer in 2024.
That’s what could be facing Daniel Levy, who will probably get a lot of stick if he allows Kane to join Chelsea because the Spurs fans aren’t exactly seeing eye-to-eye with their club’s chairman already.
