Luke Shaw has had the highest of praise for a full-back this season – being compared to Kyle Walker.
That’s in the eyes of former England and West Ham striker Dean Ashton, who believes the Manchester United left back is showing shades of his Three Lions colleagThe comparison was made during Man United’s clash against Chelsea at Old Trafford with the home side 2-0 up by half-time. A penalty by Bruno Fernandes extended the Red Devils’ advantage.
Shaw, who was replaced by Tyrell Malacia at half time, was a big part of the zero goals conceded, winning his battles against an in-form Noni Madueke.
Ashton said on commentary for talkSPORT: “He’s had such a good season Luke Shaw, he’s starting to get that aura that Kyle Walker has.
“He’s such an incredible athlete, so quick over the ground, players are finding it very difficult once they get in a one v one situation with him.”ue.The praise comes at a time when Walker’s stock has rarely been higher after he starred in Manchester City’s qualification for the Champions League final.
During the semi against Real Madrid, Walker was faced with one of the most difficult tasks in football as he lined up opposite Vincius Jr.
The Brazilian scored in the first leg, but in the second Walker repeatedly shut him out of the game, a challenge which Shaw may face next season as United look to seal a Champions League return.
