Highly-rated Netherlands defender Micky van de Ven has been strongly linked with a transfer to the Premier League
Liverpool transfer ‘target’ Micky van de Ven has broken silence on reports linking him with Tottenham Hotspur.
Having earned rave reviews for his performances at Wolfsburg last season, Netherlands defender Van de Ven currently finds himself representing his nation at the Under-21 European Championships being held in Romania and Georgia. With that comes a golden opportunity to put himself in the shop window.
After snapping-up Alexis Mac Allister for an undisclosed fee, Liverpool will prioritise further recruits in their engine room. However, the Reds are also in the market for a left-sided central defender.
To that end, Van de Ven is reportedly one of the names in the frame. Should they pursue and sign the 22-year-old, though, it seems the Reds will have to edge out proposed interest from Tottenham.READ MORE: Liverpool can quickly secure Newcastle revenge as £70m transfer nears completion

Speaking to Voetbal International while on international duty, Van de Ven said: “I have been forwarded it. I have seen it. [Interest] goes through my agent now. If serious things come up, he will call me.”Addressing his immediate future last month, the defender added: “I’m very good [happy] at Wolfsburg, so I don’t mind staying at Wolfsburg for another year but, if I get a chance to leave, I would like to. I read everything… I have good contact with my agent, so I know what’s going on. I’ll see where it will lead.

“Hopefully, [moving to a bigger club] would be nice. The Premier League, maybe, yes. Who knows?”
Having started his career at FC Volendam upon progressing through their academy system, Van de Ven moved to Wolfsburg for €3.5m two years ago and has since made 41 appearances for them in all competitions. He has played all 180 minutes possible for the young Netherlands at the ongoing European Championships.
