Report: Spurs have submitted their ‘first serious offer’ for centre-back

According to Turkiye Gazetesi (12/06/23 as translated by Sport Witness), Tottenham Hotspur have now submitted their first serious offer for Galatasaray centre-back Victor Nelsson.

We have covered several reports from Turkish outlets over the last few weeks, which have backed Spurs to make a move for Nelsson, who has been one of the stand-out centre-backs in the Super Lig over the last couple of years. This included an update by Takvim on June 4, which claimed that Tottenham are at the front of the queue to snap up the Dane.

Tottenham bid over £15m for Victor Nelsson
If Turkiye Gazetesi’s latest update is to be believed, the Lilywhites have now launched their ‘first serious offer’ for Nelsson, which is thought to be worth €19m (£16.3m) excluding bonuses. The report explains that the 24-year-old has a release clause of €25m (£21.4m) in his contract and that Galatasaray want to keep him for one more season.

However, the player is said to be keen on a new challenge in a top league, which is why the Turkish club are listening to offers for him.

The publication adds that Galatasaray are aiming for a ‘middle ground’ and would thus be ready to accept an offer of around €22m (£18.9m) for Nelsson.

Spurs Web Opinion

Not one single British outlet has even suggested that Nelsson is on Tottenham’s radar, let alone that the North London club have submitted any offers for him.

So, Spurs fans should take these updates from Turkish sources with a pinch of salt.
