Tottenham Hotspur are closing in on signing Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario with Ange Postecoglou keen to get him snapped up.

Guglielmo Vicario could end Tottenham Hotspur’s search for a goalkeeper as he seemingly nears a move from Empoli. That is according to multiple reports breaking on Wednesday evening with Tottenham pushing to land Vicario.

Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas claims that Tottenham have reached a ‘verbal agreement’ with Empoli to sign Vicario for around £17million.

The Daily Mail add that new Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is keen to bring Vicario in as his new goalkeeper.

Talks to sign Brentford goalkeeper David Raya are still ongoing though as Spurs attempt to drive down the £40million price tag.Maybe Tottenham are really pushing this Vicario move to try and tempt Brentford into lowering their price for Raya, who is entering the final year of his contract.

Fabrizio Romano also claims that Tottenham have agreed personal terms on a five-year deal with Vicario.Tottenham should still focus on David Raya despite Guglielmo Vicario move
Tottenham want a new stopper this summer with Hugo Lloris looking likely to move on this summer.

Fraser Forster is never going to be the long-term first-choice, so it’s time for Tottenham to spend on another stopper.

Vicario seems to be the top choice right now but we still think that Tottenham should launch one more move for Raya. The Spaniard is a proven Premier League stopper and his ability to pass out from the back would be perfect for Postecoglou’s revolution.

Raya is of a good age at 27 and even counts as a homegrown player for European games in the coming years.

Vicario has impressed for Empoli but he does have a tendency to push shots back into trouble – something Premier League strikers may feast on.

There would be less risk with a move for Raya and he should still be Tottenham’s priority even with a move for the Italian progressing.
