ROMANO CLAIMS TOTTENHAM TURNING ATTENTION TO GIGANTIC RAYA ALTERNATIVE

Tottenham Hotspur have made new contact over a potential deal to sign Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Valencia stopper Giorgi Mamardashvili is emerging as a Tottenham Hotspur target as they look away from Brentford’s David Raya. That is according to a report from Fabrizio Romano, who claims that Spurs are looking towards Mamardashvili.

Romano notes that Tottenham are still working to sign a new goalkeeper but top target David Raya is proving tricky to sign.

Raya has agreed personal terms with Tottenham but Brentford are demanding around £40million despite him approaching the final year of his contract.

That means Tottenham must have alternatives in mind and Romano claims Mamardashvili is emerging as one of them.Romano states that Tottenham have ‘now started contacts’ over a potential deal for Mamardashvili in an attempt to learn how much Valencia want.

This deal could be a touch cheaper with 90Min reporting in April that Valencia want around £30million for Mamardashvili this summer.

Mamardashvili has a huge £86million release clause in his contract but Valencia seem willing to take a much cheaper deal.Who is Tottenham target Giorgi Mamardashvili?
Mamardashvili emerged in the Dinamo Tbilisi ranks over in his hometown in Georgia.

The gigantic 6ft 6in stopper never actually played for Dinamo though and instead caught the eye whilst out on loan.

Mamardashvili impressed with Rustavi and Locomotive Tbilisi, earning himself a big move to Spain with Valencia.

Now one of the top goalkeepers in Spain, Mamardashvili has made the goalkeeping spot his own at Valencia.

All of the focus is on Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia when it comes to Georgian footballers but Mamardashvili is impressing in his own right.

The 22-year-old is a top shot-stopper but isn’t quite as impressive as Raya in terms of playing out from the back.

Maybe that’s something Ange Postecoglou thinks he can be coached into Mamardashvili, with Tottenham now in contact over a potential deal.
