Tottenham have made Leicester’s James Maddison their top summer target and are already pushing to seal a deal, sources have told Football Insider.
A well-placed source has told this site that Spurs are hopeful of winning the race for the 26-year-old despite having no manager or director of football in place.Tottenham and Newcastle are long-term admirers of England international Maddison – while it is believed that Arsenal could enter the race for his signature.The midfield star is set to become one of the hottest properties in English football this summer following Leicester’s relegation to the Championship.
Maddison is out of contract at the King Power Stadium in just over 12 months – meaning the Foxes risk losing him for free in 2024 if they don’t sell this summer.
He notched 10 goals and nine assists in 30 Premier League games during the 2022-23 campaign but could not prevent relegation.

Football Insider revealed earlier this month (6 May) that up to ten Foxes stars could quit in the off-season – including Harvey Barnes.
Meanwhile, Tottenham are yet to appoint their next full-time manager despite parting company with Antonio Conte in March.
Sources told Football Insider on Tuesday (30 May) that Luis Enrique, Ruben Amorim and Ange Postecoglou are in the frame for the vacancy.Spurs will be without European football next season after slumping to an eighth-place Premier League finish in the 2022-23 campaign.
The Lilywhites are also tasked with finding a new director of football after previous incumbent Fabio Paritici was slapped with a 30-month worldwide ban in April.
