According to talkSPORT, Newcastle are eyeing up summer moves for Leicester City duo Harvey Barnes and James Maddison.
The East Midlands side currently look destined for relegation to the Championship – they could be down if they lose at St James’ Park on Monday – meaning a lot of their star players could be set for end-of-season exits.
Sporting director Dan Ashworth was spotted watching over the Foxes 3-0 defeat at home to Liverpool last week and is thought to be a big fan of Barnes. Perhaps he was there to watch both?
addison has also been a key target since last summer and it looks like he could be top of Eddie Howe’s list of priorities heading into the next window.
They wouldn’t come cheap – even if relegated – but the English duo could be smart additions as we begin to prepare for a European campaign and a much more congested fixture list in 2023/24.
