Tottenham are ready to make a move for one of two strikers with Harry Kane’s exit from the club set to ramp up in the coming days.
The Spurs talisman is the club’s all-time leading goalscorer with an astonishing 280 goals to his name from 435 appearances. However, his prospects of adding to that tally appear to be fading with Bayern Munich growing increasingly confident of sealing his signing.
And with just over 11 months remaining on his Spurs deal, Bayern are readying a new bid that they are convinced will finally twist Daniel Levy’s arm.
To that end, Bayern believe an offer in the region of €80m (£68m), with add-ons taking the deal to €90m (£77m) will be enough to seal the deal.
Furthermore, a major statement from Bayern over Kane’s intentions suggests a move is drawing ever closer for the Bundesliga giants.
While Levy would prefer to keep the striker, the fact that he is now willing to make the move, together with his contract situation, ultimately leaves him with little choice.
But the loss of their star striker will leave new boss Ange Postecoglou with a near-impossible hole to fill.
The Aussie had been desperate to keep Kane around given his importance to the club and their reliance on his goals. However, it’s now reported that the dispirited Spurs boss has come to accept Kane’s decision.
And the quest to replace him is now underway in earnest. To that end, reports in Italy claim the club are looking at two potential successors to the 29-year-old.
And top of their wishlist is Lille’s Canada frontman Jonathan David, according to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti.

Tottenham want Jonathan David as Harry Kane replacement
The 23-year-old is contracted to the Ligue 1 side until 2025 and is rated at a minimum €60m (£51m). And with his deal having just two years left to run, Lille know the time to sell could arise this summer.
To that end, they are reportedly hoping Tottenham’s desperation for a new striker could see his fee fetch as much as €75m (£64.4m).
David scored an impressive 26 goals from 40 games last season. And with 24 coming from 37 Ligue 1 games, he finished third behind Kylian Mbappe (28) and Alexander Lacazette (27) in the scoring charts.
Indeed, he boasts a record of 58 goals in 136 games for Lille overall since a €30m move from Gent in August 2020.
With a strikerate of a goal every 2.3 games, it is easy to see why Postecoglou views the 42-times capped star as his No 1 target to succeed Kane.
However, the Spurs boss does have other irons in the fire and Galetti also claims they are looking at Dusan Vlahovic.
The Serbian striker has been cleared to leave Juventus this summer for a fee of around €70m. The Bianconeri hope to sign Romelu Lukaku for around €40m with the funds.
Vlahovic stands at 6ft 3 and has a record of 23 goals in 63 appearances for Juve since his move from Fiorentina.
Postecoglou, though, will need to act fast if he is to sign the 23-year-old with talks over a move to PSG already underway.
Spurs have already made five summer signings to the tune of £117m. However, the momentum and feelgood factor gained from those deals will evaporate in an instant if and when the Kane move goes through.
