Bryan Gil has completed a loan move to Sevilla until the end of the season from Tottenham in a deal that sees him return to the La Liga club – prompting reaction from Harry Winks, Emerson Royal and Sergio Reguilon to the news.
Gil, 21, has left Spurs after struggling to get regular game time in London in what is his second season at the club. The Spain star left Spurs on loan this time last season too, joining Valencia and impressing back in his home country.
Now, he is back in Spain for a second spell at Sevilla. The club Spurs bought him from for a fee of £21.6million and Erik Lamela. It comes after a couple of starts in the Premier League at the beginning of the month, in which he impressed.
However, Spurs chose to sign Arnaut Danjuma – a move which Sky reporter Michael Bridge claims “disappointed” Gil. He has been shipped off on loan to Sevilla on loan, without a permanent option. He took to Instagram after the move.
His post is translated as: “Back to the home that was, the club that watched me grow up. The club where it all started. Looking forward to enjoying together Sevillistas and with hope to defend this shirt again. They say to never give up.”
Gil is right to feel hard done by. He has hardly been given a chance by Spurs, a regular run in the side. He was given his chance and did impress for Spurs – starring in a 4-0 win over Palace at Selhurst Park. Gil is a talent, but he needs time.
Plenty responded to his Instagram post on Monday evening. Having underlined his delight at returning to Sevilla, Harry Winks – who is on loan at Sampdoria – posted a couple of emojis. Royal and Reguilon also reacted on his post.
