TOTTENHAM TRANSFER NEWS: PIERO HINCAPIE STANCE ON SPURS MOVE

Bayer Leverkusen central defender Piero Hincapie is open to a move to Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur in the final days of the January transfer window, according to 90min.

The report has claimed that Tottenham want to bring Hincapie to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this month.

Tottenham have got in touch with Bayer and have enquired about the possibility of securing the services of the 21-year-old central defender now with a view to a permanent deal in the summer of 2023.

The Ecuador international himself is open to a move to Spurs now, according to the report.

However, Bayer do not want to sell the youngster in the middle of the season and want as much as €75 million (£66 million) in transfer fees for him.

In our view, it is unlikely that Tottenham Hotspur will be able to sign Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen in the January transfer window.

If the Bundesliga club do not reduce their asking price, then we do not think that Spurs will be able to sign him.

After all, we cannot really expect Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy to splash over £60 million on a 21-year-old in the middle of the season.

And there is no benefit for Bayer if they send the youngster out on loan without any obligation on Tottenham’s part to make the deal permanent in the summer of 2023.
