Tottenham would be willing to wait until January to make a move for Ivan Toney if Harry Kane leaves this summer, according to reports.
Spurs fans are bracing themselves for Kane’s exit this summer with Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich positioning themselves to buy the England captain this summer.
Kane only has a year left on his contract and will be free to leave the club for nothing next summer – but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is still demanding as much as £100m for his star player.Bayern Munich made an opening offer of £60m, way short of Levy’s valuation, but some reports have indicated that there is a feeling that a deal could be done for around £80m.
Eintracht Frankfurt’s Randal Kolo Muani is one of the players linked as a potential replacement fo Kane, while a fresh report from Football Transfers claims Brentford’s Toney is their top target to replace his compatriot.

Toney is currently serving a ban from football that will last until January 16 after being handed an eight-month suspension for breaching gambling rules.

‘Sources have revealed that Toney was previously recommended to chairman Daniel Levy by former Spurs manager David Pleat, who envisioned him as the perfect candidate to provide much-needed rest for Kane in specific matches and eventually take over the reins from the England captain.
‘But at the time, Toney was unavailable and Tottenham went on to secure the services of Carlos Vinicius instead, who arrived on loan from Benfica.’ Toney was charged with 262 gambling breaches in November last year, but had to wait until May before the FA announced his ban and £50,000 fine after he had admitted to 232 of the counts.
The 27-year-old missed out on his World Cup “dream” after being omitted from Gareth Southgate’s Qatar 2022 squad and while he accepts his punishment, he said recently that he feels the timing of his charges being made public was harsh.
Toney’s breaches of FA Rule E8, the general prohibition on betting on football by a participant, took place over five seasons from February 25, 2017 to January 23, 2021.
The FA revealed that the forward had placed 13 bets on his own team to lose in seven different matches during the 2017-18 season, 11 of these bets were against Newcastle when he was out on loan away from the club.
Two other bets were placed on a game between Wigan and Aston Villa, but Toney, on-loan at Wigan at the time, was not involved in the matchday squad.
